Burditt Connects

Connecting People | Place

A community program from
Burditt

Connecting People|Place was born out of the values of Burditt. A reverence for land, which sets the stage for place and people to interact in community. Connections to land, connections to people and connections to a greater sense of community and being are the foundations of our practice. Each place known as home is honored by our time, attention and eye for beauty. Our hope is to sing the song of places unsung and breathe hope and inspiration into spaces which lie waiting to be activated and brought welcomingly into the center of community and belonging.

Planning for Place

The Planning for Place project was developed as a way to give back to communities through building connection, meeting needs not typically being served and solving unmet community needs. The intention of this project is to provide public engagement and planning services to assist in the facilitation of a community led enhancement project. Through the Planning for Place project, Burditt Land|Place desires to allocate our firm's planning resources to underserved projects within communities. Our hope is to move projects from a dormant idea to a contributing part of building community.

Projects will be selected on the basis of need, organizational capacity to leverage resources allocated to move projects forward, demonstrated leadership abilities of the project champion, and collaborative approach across stakeholder groups. Community engagement will be a critical component of any project and the demonstrated capacity to collaborate large-scale community projects is desired. Project location preference will be given to projects located in Texas, although consideration will be given to other locations.

Burditt Land|Place is grounded in the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, planning and natural resource management. Firm resources can be requested for the Planning for Place project. After a project is selected, firm representatives will work with the applicant organization and project champion to further define the scope of services provided to the community.
